@SammerJammer No you want to use the spray detailer (spray wax) as your lube, not water.

  12. SammerJammer says:

In the beginning you say that the paint surface should be dry, why does that matter? Wouldn’t a little water left over from washing help with lubrication?

@Ripzta13B Yes you can use smaller pieces. It depends on how much contamination is on the paint as to the size of area you can clay. If the car is pretty good and you are not getting much dirt/grime on the clay I would clay a med/large bonnet in 4 sections, if it is pretty bad and your clay is turning very brown & dirty then I would divide the bonnet into smaller areas maybe 8 sections and turn the clay much more frequently

@Ripzta13B A large clay 200g can usually be split into 2 or 3 pieces so 60 to 100 grams. It depends how contaminated the bar gets and how much it changes colour. Once it looks dirty and older use it for clay barring your glass, sills or rims and then take a new piece the next time you need to clay the paint

  16. Ripzta13B says:

Is it ok to split the clay into smaller pieces for individual panels?

  17. Ripzta13B says:

How much grams of clay is enough for a whole car and when should you use a new piece?

  18. CarCareProducts says:

You just need to wash the car with a good shampoo and dry as normal.

When claying the car you will need to spray on a quality clay lube. After you can simply wipe this off using a microfibre cloth

What do you use to clean the car before applying the clay bar?
